About the Artwork:
Beyond the Familiar: Foreign Ground reflects the moment of stepping outside the comfort of what is known: a new country, language, culture or way of living. Rather than treating unfamiliarity as a loss, the work sees it as a positive rupture—an opening towards new layers of experience beyond the linear reality we once understood.
It is a reflection on migration, adaptation and the freedom of discovering a different version of yourself through the unfamiliar.

- Presented on an ACM aluminium panel, selected for colour vibrancy, durability and long-term preservation and framed in black-stained wood.
- Jay Kaes works with eco-friendly acrylics and acrylic spray paint, selected to reduce environmental impact wherever possible within his studio practice.
- The work combines traditional painting with the artist’s signature Glitch Pop language: photorealism, graphic linework and digital disruption, creating a vivid and lasting surface.
