About the Artwork:
Part of a series honouring films and the creative teams that have shaped Jay Kaes’s practice, The Choice references The Matrix and its defining red-pill moment. It reflects the decision to face an uncomfortable truth rather than remain inside a reassuring illusion.
Painted on a film clapperboard, the work connects cinema’s ability to construct reality with the choices that shape our own perception of it.
